“It’s Showtime, London!” – Beetlejuice: The Musical Will Bring Its Wicked Charm to the West End in 2026

If you’ve ever called his name out three times, be careful, as he has finally arrived! The devious demon with a warped sense of humour and penchant for all things chaotic is making the scene in London. After making its way through a successful run on Broadway, Beetlejuice: The Musical will move into the Prince Edward West End Theatre in 2026. Based on Tim Burton’s 1988 cult classic, this comically spirited musical has everything fans have been wishing for – funny, strange, and full of supernatural fun.

What is Beetlejuice: The Musical About?

Similar to the Burton original, the storyline goes as such: the recently deceased couple, Maitlands, try to scare the living multitude who have moved into their home. Enter John Keats, a little goth girl who can see the ghosts… and accidentally summons the goofiest, fast-talking demon, Beetlejuice, just by saying his name a few times. As a result, it is a fresh and comedic haunting, in addition to the Nesie family being a drama, with Lydia coping with the death of her mother while reining in the demon chaos at the same time.

A wide range of songs are included in the performance of the musical including “Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)” and “Say My Name” earning even more nostalgia, dark humor, and Broadway pizzazz!

The Talented Individuals Responsible for the Chaos

Eddie Perfect (the Australian comedian and composer who composed the score for King Kong), designed the music/lyrics for Beetlejuice: The Musical, and Scott Brown and Anthony King’s, the writing duo behind the funny book, score is darkly funny and deliciously creepy.

Platinum style, Tony Award winner and comic genius Alex Timbers is directing the musical. Timbers is a two-time Tony Award nominated director for Moulin Rouge! and Here Lies Love, and he is smartly known for his visually inspired and wondrous theatre pieces. The set design is done by David Korins (a Tony Award winner for his work on Hamilton), the costumes are by William Ivey Long (who won a Tony Award for The Producers) and the mind-blowing special effects are by Jeremy Chernick (the special effects designer for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child). Between puppetry, levitation, fire and a gigantic sandworm, this will be one impressive and visually exciting show (alive and, not to mention, dead).
