The court is full, with no one talking; a judge is sitting, and a man’s life is on the line for each word. That is how this Agatha Christie thriller enchants viewers night after night. Now, though, new faces join longtime faces in the dock, so longtime fans and first-timers alike have something to watch for. This is the latest company to take on the production.

How The Witness for the Prosecution’s New Cast Brings Fresh Energy

The 16th company of Agatha Christie’s courtroom drama has been announced and starts performing on 22 September 2026. Sharp, fast and twisty, Lucy Bailey continues to direct the play as before. What changes is the chemistry of the actors. The narrative is the same for each new company, but each tells it in a different manner, so there is always a reason to come back if you regularly attend theatre. This Witness for the Prosecution new cast 2026 brings another fresh company to the production.

Meet the New Leads

Matthew McGivern, known for his work in Hollyoaks, has the opportunity to play the part of the accused man, Leonard Vole, and make his debut in the West End. In his first West End appearance, he stars with Sophie Craig (as Romaine Vole in Emmerdale), marking his first West End performance. This year’s Witness for the Prosecution cast 2026 features two 2026 screen favourites at the heart of a play that has a new, human dimension this time.

Familiar Faces Return

Not everybody is a new person. Jo Stone-Fewings is back as defence barrister Sir Wilfrid Robarts QC and Crispin Redman reprises his role as solicitor Mr Mayhew. Jude Owusu plays Mr Myers QC, the slick prosecutor, and David Shaw-Parker is the judge, Mr Justice Wainwright. That combination of veterans and fresh faces is also keeping the courtroom drama alive and providing a safety net for the newcomers.

The Ensemble Behind Them

The company is rounded out by 12 more performers, including Sahar Awad, Philip Battley, Siobhan Bevan and Tom Richardson. They bring some color to the courtroom during the main proceedings. The creative team also has a large influence. The production was designed by William Dudley, lit by Chris Davey, and sound by Mic Pool. Together, they transform an historic building into a credible court.

A Courtroom Built Around You

The play is performed inside the renowned London County Hall, where the audience is seated around the courtroom, and the case against Leonard Vole is played out. You are near enough to be able to see all their eyes and hear all their whispers. It puts you in the shoes of the jury, giving you an immersive Witness for the Prosecution London experience.

Ten Years and Counting

It was first produced in 2017 and is now in its 10th year at London County Hall. It won Best Revival awards at the 2018 Olivier Awards and 2018 WhatsOnStage Awards. Its booking period will continue until 19 September 2027, and there is plenty of time to plan a visit as the dates for Witness for the Prosecution 2027 are now open. There is still plenty of time to plan your visit!

Booking Your Seats

It is definitely much better to book early, particularly during school breaks and on weekends. If you’re looking for Witness for the Prosecution tickets in London, be sure to check the date, time, and seat location before buying from a reputable seller. The closer to the action, the greater the intensity, but wider views provide a good sense of the grand chamber. Pick the seating option that you like and that you can afford.

Making the Right Choice

It’s a new company, a familiar story and a space that will immerse you in the trial; a night worth planning. Clear, honest, and up-to-date theatre news brought to you by London West End Theatre, you will always know who’s on stage and when to go. It is the love of a live show and its emphasis on useful and correct information that enables you to choose shows with confidence and enjoy a memorable show!

Looking to have an exciting evening? Select your date and reserve your tickets now!
